Situated at the top of the coastal village of Staithes you will find this 3 bedroom semi-detached house. Although the bottom of the village, which is a beautiful and popular tourist destination, is only a short walk away - this house is situated in a residential area of Staithes which is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the villages busier streets. Some 'TLC' is needed but there is huge potential to transform this into a desirable second home, long term let or permanent residence. The ground floor is made up of an entrance porch, a spacious lounge at over 16ft in length, an equally large kitchen/diner with space for an oven and a tumble dryer and space/ plumbing for an automatic washing machine. with windows to 3-sides this is a light and airy room and there is access, via a door, into the rear entrance porch from where you can step out into the rear garden. The first floor boasts 3 bedrooms of generous proportions and a family bathroom with a suite comprising a bath, WC and sink. Externally there is, to the front, a lawned garden which is enclosed by hedges and has a pathway leading up to the front door and running around the side of the building. The rear garden is triangular in shape and laid to lawn with mature shrubs. There is a coal bunker and this area to the rear is enclosed by wooden fences. Staithes was once one of the largest fishing ports in the North East but is now a popular tourist destination – although there are still a few part-time fishermen. Staithes is also a popular destination for Geologists researching the Jurassic period and nearby Port Mulgrave remains one of the best places on the northern coast to find fossils of ammonites. This is a village where local traditions have not died with some local women still wearing the traditional ‘Staithes Bonnets’ and a fishermans choir still going strong. There are many amenities in the lower part of this village including several Inns, a bistro, butchers and gift shops. The yearly ‘Art Festival’ which takes place every September has become a huge event which has really put Staithes very firmly on the map. Whitby is approximately 10 and a half miles away. With stunning scenery and a beautiful golden beach this is a truly desirable village location – former resident Captain James Cook certainly thought so! Viewing is a must!
